Artist Talk: Jeanne Whatley

Wednesday, Sept. 20 @ UNG Oconee Art Gallery

“Greener” by Jeanne Whatley

Last winter, the University of North Georgia Oconee Campus Art Gallery held its third annual “Reciprocal” exhibition, which brings in works by members of the Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation. After winning Best in Show, artist Jeanne Whatley was offered a solo exhibition. Her series of paintings, “Flight Path,” takes its title from the freedom of a bird’s flight. Often painted from a bird’s eye view, many of her human subjects appear as abstracted shapes in the midst of migration. Within her body of work, Whatley explores the role hope plays in the lives of of people moving along uncertain paths. Her paintings will remain on view through Oct. 11.
