Canadian two-piece Japandroids burst loudly onto the international scene in 2009 with Post-Nothing, a churning, eight-song LP teeming with earnest garage-punk energy. The group followed it up with 2012’s Celebration Rock, a somewhat streamlined take on the first record’s barely-contained rock drama. A third album, Near to the Wild Heart of Life, was released earlier this year and features a more measured, classic-rock-influenced approach, though Japandroids’ restless spirit remains mostly intact. The band shares Wednesday’s 40 Watt bill with Ohio indie-rock standouts Cloud Nothings, whose fourth full-length, Life Without Sound, was released in January.
