Cause + Effect Film Festival

Saturday, Nov. 11 @ Ciné

Hosted by The Alliance for a Better Georgia, the third annual festival features a collection of short films confronting political, environmental, economic and social-justice issues facing communities across the state. A panel of judges selected a total of 11 finalist films—three from Athens—focusing on topics that range from immigration and deportation, human trafficking, homelessness, white privilege, access to health care and other critical issues. This year’s guest speaker, North Carolina-based director and producer Christopher Everett, is the creator of Wilmington on Fire, a documentary chronicling the 1898 Wilmington Massacre. All finalists will be screened, with the top three receiving cash prizes.
