"Cockaigne" by Vincent Desidrio
The Dodd Galleries’ Visiting Artist Series continues with Vincent Desiderio, a realist painter, art historian and critic based in Sleepy Hollow, NY who creates meticulously rendered, slightly eerie scenes that straddle reality and imagination. His painting “The Sleep,” which depicts a dozen dozing nude bodies sardined in a bed, was recreated using the images of pop culture and political icons by Kanye West for a scene in the 2016 music video for “Famous.” In addition to having pieces included in public collections at the Hirshhorn Museum, Guggenheim Museum and Metropolitan Museum of Art, he has received two grants from the National Endowment for the Arts.
(S151) Vincent Desiderio is a realist painter from Sleepy Hollow, New York. See Calendar Pick on p. 16.
