Athens Symphony Orchestra and Chorus
Offering an evening of traditional holiday classics under the direction of conductor Norman Mackenzie, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Chorus will perform the “Christmas” portion and “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s Messiah, as well as “Regina Coeli” and “Exsultate, Jubilate” by Mozart. Over the last 30 years, the group has recorded over 100 albums and received over two dozen Grammy Awards. Guests are invited to visit the neighboring Georgia Museum of Art for Make It an Evening at 6 p.m., which offers cups of Jittery Joe’s coffee, slices of Cecilia Villaveces’ cakes and tours of current exhibitions.
The program will include selections from Handel's Messiah. See Calendar Pick on p. 17.
