One of the brightest figures to emerge from the turn-of-the-century New York City anti-folk scene that famously spawned artists like Beck and The Moldy Peaches, singer-songwriter, guitarist and visual artist Jeffrey Lewis is known for crafting wordy, rough-hewn story-songs that draw unsparingly from his personal life (think Mark Kozelek without the martyr complex). His latest album with his touring group Los Bolts is 2015’s Manhattan, released by Lewis’ longtime home Rough Trade, which showcased a loose, unhurried sound. Lewis and Los Bolts play the Caledonia Thursday evening alongside locals Hunger Anthem and Virginia-based DIY folk outfit Yankee Roses.
