Currently in its 11th year, the “Visions of MLK Art Exhibition” honors the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. by challenging creative teams to combine poetic words with visual artwork. Organized by Montu Miller, this year’s theme is “Time to Do What’s Right.” Youth members of the Pinewoods neighborhood will display a collaborative project inspired by Faith Ringgold, an African-American artist who painted portraits and scenes onto quilts as a form of storytelling. Additionally, “Connect,” an exhibition of artwork by over 400 local children, will be on view for its final day. Following an hourlong hands-on art project for children, a Saturday Celebration will feature performances by step teams, poetry readings, music and dance.
