Singer-songwriter Joe Willey has been an active participant in Athens music dating back to the 1980s, and is known for his work with The Ale Raisers, among other groups. With his latest ensemble, the Movin’ Men—a trio that also features Five Eight’s Dan Horowitz and The Welfare Liners’ John Evans—Willey recently released The Toll, a sprightly, sure-footed Americana record that should appeal to fans of folk sages like John Prine. The group celebrates the album’s arrival with a show at Hendershot’s on Friday, where it will be joined by guests Claire Campbell, Jamie DeRevere and Jason Cade to perform music from the LP. Emily Horton opens with assistance from Willey himself.
