Why Art?
In her latest illustrated book, Why Art?, local graphic novelist and cartoonist Eleanor Davis attempts to shed light on this perplexing question. Part serious philosophical contemplation, part humorous surrealist narrative, Davis' book is both critical and optimistic of art’s multifaceted functions within society to be reflective, expressive and a catalyst for positive change. Davis currently teaches comic book storytelling classes at UGA, and other popular selections of hers include How to Be Happy and You & a Bike & a Road. Following a presentation at Avid’s Prince Avenue location, Davis will sign copies of Why Art?, which has been published by Fantagraphics Books, and chat with attendees.
