“To Trap a Trickster” in “Tripwire” the Dodd Galleries

Atlanta-based multidisciplinary artist Masud Olufani is featured in “Tripwire,” a group exhibition on display through Mar. 22 that addresses themes of dislocation, home, surveillance and technology through the works of immigrant artists and artists from the American South. His multimedia piece “To Trap a Trickster” shows a black hare representing Legba, the Yoruba trickster god, in proximity with a Christian dome structure as a statement on the Catholic church’s complicity in the trans-Atlantic slave trade. Olufani, who has a MFA in sculpture from the Savannah College of Art and Design, seeks to confront themes of racial justice, spiritual transcendence and other sociological issues through his body of work.
