Eat some tasty seafood and learn why it’s important to our state’s economy. The Georgia Sea Grant program and UGA’s Marine Extension team up for “Keeping It Local: Reviving Georgia’s Seafood Heritage,” designed to raise awareness of issues facing Georgia’s fishing industry and stress the importance of local seafood and aquaculture to the state. Local (now Savannah) painter Alan Campbell’s series of paintings, “The Hidden World of Oystering,” will be on exhibit; André Gallant will read from his book on oystermen; and The Shifting Baseline, a film about Georgia’s commercial fishing, will premiere. Oysters and regional cuisine will be served by The National and Seabear Oyster Bar. Tickets at athenscine.com.
