Bug
Under the direction of Isaac Callahan and Ginny Simmons, the Town & Gown Players will perform Bug, a black comedy written by Tracy Letts, who received a Pulitzer Prize for August: Osage County. Cocktail waitress Agnes White (played by Shannon Crawford) is living in a seedy motel room to hide from her abusive ex-husband, Jerry Goss (Callahan, doing double duty), who has just been released from prison. After her friend R.C. (Kat Marie Mitchell) introduces her to Gulf War veteran Peter Evans (Patrick Najjar), Agnes’ life spirals into complication as she untangles Peter’s paranoid delusions involving UFOs, cult suicides, the Oklahoma City bombing and secret government experiments on soldiers.
The black comedy centers around the meeting of a divorced waitress and a Gulf War drifter in a seedy Oklahoma City motel room. See Calendar Pick on p. 20.
