“Birds and Snake” by Peter Loose
Curated by local folk artist Peter Loose, “The Great Folk Art Parade: Down the Lane to STMA” includes over 250 pieces of work by 100 different artists. Primarily drawn from nine serious collectors, the exhibition shares works from notable names of the past and present, including St. EOM, Howard Finster, Lanier Meaders, R.A. Miller, Georgia Andrews, Tex Crawford, Kim Ramey, Randy Tobias and Annie Wellborn. During the reception, Loose will lead a gallery tour to share stories from the artists’ lives. A panel discussion with collectors will follow, and attendees are invited to bring up to two pieces of their own folk art for Loose to evaluate. The exhibition will remain on view through Jan. 12.
