Opening Reception

Sunday, Jan. 6 @ State Botanical Garden of Georgia

“Put a Bird On It” features 30 wall quilts handmade by members of the Mountain Laurel Quilters’ Guild, an organization based in Clarkesville that draws artists from as far as North Carolina who aim to preserve and perpetuate the art form. Using traditional, contemporary and art quilting techniques, each artist was challenged to create a piece that incorporates one or more birds, with many works featuring species native to Georgia. This is the third time the guild has presented a show at the botanical garden, and the exhibition will remain on view in the conservatory through Mar. 3.
