Putting a sharp, melodic spin on the woozy retro-rock of fellow Nashvillians like Bully and Diarrhea Planet, Music City foursome Idle Bloom caught the underground’s attention with its 2017 album, Little Deaths. The group followed it up last year with Flood the Dial, a record that better showcases leader Olivia Scibelli’s singing voice, whose mellifluous tone radiates ’90s college-rock purity. The LP tackles meticulous post-punk, skittering emo, playful garage-pop and also features a compelling lead vocal from guitarist Gavin Schriver (“Artifacts”). The Bloom crew plays Flicker Thursday evening with support from like-minded local jangle-punks Blue Bodies and Atlanta newcomers Floral Cemetery.
