Daniel Romano
Once listed among those musicians leading a trad-country revival, thanks to twanged-up efforts like 2013’s Come Cry With Me and its follow-up, If I’ve Only One Time Askin’, Canadian crooner Daniel Romano has undergone a steady evolution since 2016’s mercurial Mosey. On the pointedly named Finally Free, his eighth full-length, Romano casts off the cowboy hat and heads off on a lo-fi psychedelic folk excursion. His tourmate and co-headliner at Wednesday’s Georgia Theatre show, Athens’ T. Hardy Morris, has experienced similar growth since breaking off from alt-rock staple Dead Confederate and going solo with 2013’s dusty Audition Tapes. Morris’ latest, Dude, the Obscure, is a rich and curious LP.
DANIEL ROMANO Chameleonic singer-songwriter with trad-country, pop and psychedelic influences. See Calendar Pick on p. 16.
T. HARDY MORRIS Local singer-songwriter and guitarist plays twangy, reflective folk-rock.
