Eco-Art Festival

Saturday, Apr. 6 @ Lake Herrick

Hoping to inspire environmental stewardship of Lake Herrick, which reopened last October after 16 years of closure due to water quality issues, the Eco-Art Festival focuses on translating scientific research through artistic expression. Several local artists have teamed up with researchers to creatively convey ecological narratives. Painter Will Eskridge, for example, is collaborating with PhD student Kristen Lear on a project about bats, while artist Ruth Allen works with ecologist Erin Cork for a lesson on dog waste and aquatic ecosystems. The kid-friendly festival also includes an art show, scavenger hunt, community art project, “trash music” and a lesson on making your own instruments.
