HEAR Film Festival

Coinciding with Mental Health Awareness Month, HEAR is a newly launched film series hoping to de-stigmatize mental illness by sharing wellness-related movies. The kickoff includes a screening of A New High, followed by an open house with TED Talks, musical performances and a resource fair with representatives from Nuçi’s Space, Family Counseling Service of Athens, Acceptance Recovery Center, Athens Recovery Fest and the National Alliance on Mental Illness. The series continues with Far From the Tree on May 11, I Am Holden On on May 18 and Life Animated on May 25. All screenings begin at 11:45 a.m., and will be followed by Q&A sessions with licensed mental-health professionals.

    HEAR Film Festival

    HEAR is a partnership between Ciné, Family Counseling Service of Athens, Inc. (FCS) and Nuçi’s Space to raise awareness and de-stigmatize mental illness by screening relevant mental wellness-related videos and films for the Athens community. FCS will provide post-screening Q&A sessions with licensed mental health professionals who specialize in addressing the issues depicted in each film. See Calendar Pick on p. 21.
