For his new album, Omoiyari, out Friday via Joyful Noise, Athens-based composer and violinist Kishi Bashi embarked on a journey of personal discovery centered around U.S. internment of Japanese-Americans during World War II. The record, doubly inspired by what Kishi Bashi calls a recent resurgence of white-supremacist beliefs in mainstream culture, is a song-based effort that is also the acclaimed musician’s most collaborative LP to date. Hendershot’s will a listening party for Omoiyari Wednesday, and Kishi Bashi will play a solo request hour. The show doubles as a benefit for the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia. Bring a food or monetary donation for entry.
