Susan Robert

Atlanta artist Susan Robert’s new installation, “Language Without Words: The Power of Color as Form,” consists of two works: “Josef Albers: Homage to the Homage of the Square Circa 1940” and “Charles Darwin: Sketches From the Galapagos Voyage Circa 1840.” These accompanying pieces—one focused on an artist, the other on a biologist—present large grids of square canvases, each painted with a distinctive color. During her talk, Robert will discuss color theory and the ideas behind her work. Darwin, for example, took Abraham Gottlob Werner’s treatise on color theory, along with sketchbooks and art supplies, to record plant and animal life during his voyages. "Language Without Words” will remain on view through July 28.
