One of contemporary indie’s most reliable singer-songwriters, Damien Jurado has released nearly 15 full-lengths over the course of his 20-plus-year career, each of them offering a unique glimpse into the Seattle musician’s creatively fertile mind. From the pared-down confessionalism of albums like 2000’s Ghost of David, Jurado explored narrative-driven Americana on 2003’s Where Shall You Take Me? and wrote richly detailed vignettes for 2010’s Richard Swift-produced Saint Bartlett. Jurado teamed with the late Swift on a trilogy of mystical psych-folk records before returning to form with last year’s The Horizon Just Laughed. An even sparer acoustic LP, In the Shape of a Storm, followed in April.
