Frequently mentioned alongside R.E.M., the B-52s and Pylon as an Athens pop pioneer, Love Tractor never quite gained the same level of mainstream recognition as its more famous peers. Yet the intricate, melodic tunes found on seminal LPs like 1982’s Love Tractor continue to inform new generations of indie-pop and post-rock bands with their singular blend of braininess and poignancy. The group has experienced a resurgence of sorts over the past few years, releasing a promising new single, “A Trip to the Museum,” playing AthFest and Athens Popfest and hinting at a reissue campaign. Love Tractor’s Atlanta jangle-pop cohorts The Swimming Pool Q’s share Saturday’s throwback 40 Watt bill.
