David Hayes

A modernist at heart, David Hayes spent his 60-year career experimenting with abstract sculptural forms, processes and materials. The artist, who is also known for his towering metal sculptures of interlocking shapes in primarily colors, viewed pieces of jewelry as miniature sculptural works capable of interacting with viewers who encountered the wearer’s body. “Sculptured Adornment: The Jewelry of David Hayes” presents approximately 40 of his talisman-like brooches and pendants, thoughtfully arranged in an order that emphasizes their one-of-a-kind, organic forms. The tour will be led by the museum’s director, William U. Eiland, who served as curator of the exhibition.
