Jericho Brown
Hosted by UGA College of Education professor Melisa Cahnmann-Taylor, Seat in the Shade is an annual poetry event offering readings and discussions by top Georgia poets. Currently in its seventh year, this rendition kicks off with a reading by Jericho Brown. Director of the Creative Writing Program at Emory University, Brown’s poems have appeared in publications including The New York Times, The New Yorker and The Paris Review. Local writer Deirdre Sugiuchi, co-founder of the music and literature series New Town Revue, will open. The series continues on with Sarah Baugh, Theresa Davis and Collin Kelley on July 23, and Cahnmann-Taylor and other educators on July 30.
