Raucous: Artist Talks

Saturday, Aug. 3 @ Lyndon House Arts Center

Christina Foard

Visually harmonious through their use of explosive color, each of the women in “Raucous” explore power structures and gender dynamics in their environments. Kelly Boehmer creates hand-sewn sculptures that are simultaneously alluring and grotesque despite their feminine details, while Jaime Bull uses repurposed materials to build soft sculptures that unapologetically sparkle and shine. Through painting, Christina Foard examines the tabletop as an arena for relationship dynamics, while Vivian Liddell reverses the male gaze through nude figure painting, and Erin McIntosh reflects on bodily microcosms through abstracted biomorphic forms. The artists will discuss their works in celebration of the exhibition’s closing day.
