A broadside by Christopher Ingham and Meredith Elder on view in the Watkinsville Woods
Get Artistic celebrates the “Broadside Exhibition Project: Verse 2,” a series of illustrated poems collaborated on by pairs of artists and writers, with an Art Party featuring a communal printmaking activity, poetry readings over wireless headphones and an all-vinyl set from DJ Comforts. During the event, a DIY Fair will offer science-fair style presentation boards by the finalists who are in the running for a new $2,000 DIY Grant: Ad·Verse Fest, Athens Resonates, Clip Art Presents, Honeypond, a mobile natural dye lab, Peepa Show, tinyATH gallery, Volumes Hip Hop Mini-Festival and a vinyl hip-hop compilation project. Public votes, which can be cast through Sept. 1, will be considered during the decision process.
One-part gallery show, one-part public art project, this event features eight illustrated poem collaborations between local visual artists and poets. Original artwork will be for sale through the CCBC Gallery and digital prints for sale through The K. A. Artist Shop. A percentage of art sales benefit the Get Artistic nonprofit fund. Music and snacks will be provided. See Art Notes on p. 13.
