Daniel Arnold in "Yellow"
This year’s ATHICA annual juried exhibition is “Yellow,” an exploration of the color and its cultural connotations through contemporary art in all media. Guest curated by Kevin Sipp, project coordinator for Gallery 72 in Atlanta, the show includes works by more than 30 artists who live as far away as Michigan, Texas and New York. Saturday’s opening reception will be followed by an all-yellow dance party at Go Bar featuring DJ Mahogany at 10 p.m. Looking ahead, an evening of experimental music, “Yellow, A Color, A Light,” will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m., and a closing event with a roundtable discussion will be held Sunday, Oct. 6 at 4 p.m.
Enjoy the opening ceremony for "Yellow," a show featuring contemporary art across all media that explore or reference the color yellow in art, nature, literature and various other categories. This exhibition will be juried by Kevin Sipp from the City of Atlanta Office of Cultural Affairs. See Calendar Pick on p. 16.
Following ATHICA's opening ceremony for "Yellow," this celebration will be lead by DJ Mahogany. Attendees are encouraged to wear yellow!
