Atlanta synthpop outfit Dot.s is on the road with a new lineup, playing songs from the group’s recently released third album, Long for This World. Past offerings, such as 2017’s “Down Goes the Elephant,” found frontman Ryan James layering symphonic, operatic grandeur to achieve maximum impact. More recent numbers, such as “Stupid, Nothing,” “Lemons” and “Anecdoche,” draw out the natural tension of shuffling but direct rhythms, have zero clutter and are powered by seemingly elemental melodic and lyrical phrases that tempt anyone within earshot to project their own meanings. For more on this, check out the title mantra in “Stand Up, Shape Up,” and prepare for an evening of low-key, blue-eyed funk for the modern day.
