Ken Stringfellow is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, arranger and producer best known for his work with The Posies, R.E.M. and Memphis power-pop legends Big Star. A rare, intimate solo appearance at Flicker on Saturday will surely be a delight for the senses. “I plan to perform my 2001 solo album, Touched, and then branch out from there,” says Stringfellow. “I can go in a number of directions, and my shows are free-form, as it's just me. I switch between piano and guitar. The music is quiet, but it leaves space for my voice to get very intense—whisper to a scream kinda thing.” Stringfellow will be joined by West Virginia singer Karen Allen, who will back him up and also play her own originals.
