Lawrence Stueck’s Gyroscope House in the World of Wonder playground at the Southeast Clarke Park
WUGA’s creative Artists in Residence series is coming to a close after a five-year run with a final visit to the eclectic home of Lawrence Stueck. An influential educator and multi-dimensional artist, Steuck taught art at Athens Academy for 17 years, helped found the Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation, and has designed over 60 sculptural playscapes for children. His unusual home is in the former Sunday School rooms of a historic Watkinsville church built in 1909, where visitors will be able to explore his collection and see both past and upcoming projects. An interview with Stueck will be broadcasted on the station leading up to the open house.
(Contact for Location) Celebrate the work of local artist Lawrence Stueck, an artist, former instructor and a founder of OCAF in Watkinsville who has designed more than 60 playscapes in surrounding areas. The public can meet the artist in his home, an old church in Watkinsville that dates to 1909. See Calendar Pick on p. 20.
