Minihorse
Blending downtuned pop with shoegaze production values and fuzz-soaked riffs straight outta the Blue Album-era Weezer playbook, Ypsilanti, MI, three-piece Minihorse flirts with alt-rock perfection on the 10-song Living Room Art LP, released this summer via Park the Van. Fans of Failure, Smashing Pumpkins and My Bloody Valentine will dig the group’s punchy pastiche. The band will be joined at Flicker by Athens pop-punk foursome Deep State, whose February effort, The Path to Fast Oblivion, stands as one of the year’s best local albums. New local outfit Tush, featuring members of Shade and Cult of Riggonia, opens Wednesday’s show.
DEEP STATE Local band playing driving, punky, melodic guitar-rock.
MINIHORSE Fuzzed-up indie-rock group from Ypsilanti, MI. See Calendar Pick on p. 14.
TUSH New, hazy local punk band from musician Phelan LaVelle.
