By Our Hands
Nov. 8, 10, 16–17 @ Fine Arts Theatre
Part of this week’s Spotlight on the Arts festival on campus, UGA Theatre presents By Our Hands from the Georgia Incarceration Performance Project to interrogate the state’s complicated history pertaining to incarceration, issues of race and forced labor. This cross-institutional collaboration involved members from UGA, Spelman College and Common Good Atlanta, an organization that provides college-level courses in prisons. Directed by Keith Bolden, Julie B. Johnson, Amma Y. Ghartey-Tagoe Kootin and Emily Sahakian, By Our Hands is a theatrical performance that melds original and historical music, dance, projections and writing, drawing heavily from the stories of real people.

The Georgia Incarceration Performance Project presents By Our Hands, a cross-institutional collaboration between faculty, students and alumni of UGA and Spelman College of Atlanta and Common Good Atlanta, an organization that teaches college-level courses in prisons across Georgia.
