Gallery Talk: Richard Fausset

Tuesday, Jan. 7 @ Georgia Museum of Art

New York Times correspondent and former Flagpole editor Richard Fausset will speak on the museum’s new exhibition, “The Monsters Are Due on Broad Street: Patrick Dean,” a retrospective of the local cartoonist’s illustration career. Fausset hired Dean in the mid-1990s to create a weekly comic for Flagpole, which Dean drew until 2006, along with numerous covers. Dean was diagnosed with ALS in 2018 but has continued to draw, despite difficulties. His solo show begins with student work at UGA in the late ’90s and spans until the present day, showing influences of Mad magazine, Jack Davis, George Grosz and Tomi Ungerer.
