Females of Fabric

Friday, Feb. 21 @ tiny ATH gallery

Barbette Houser

Showcasing local fiber artists Barbette Houser, Heather Elisabeth and Paula Runyon, “Females of Fabric” demonstrates how the traditional medium can be pushed into new and exciting forms. Placing an emphasis on color, Houser makes quilts influenced by patterns in nature and her everyday life. Elisabeth crochets vessels using velvet yarn and dyed sari ribbons, then embellishes the bowls with gemstones. Runyon’s work engages the eyes through salvaged, experimental and nature-based components. “Females of Fabric” will remain on view during limited gallery hours next week, and an artist panel talk will be held Feb. 27 at 7 p.m.
