Tonight (Thursday, Mar. 29) at the Georgia Museum of Art, the EcoFocus Film Festival, which has been going on all over town since this past Friday, is having a free screening of Sushi: The Global Catch and "eel*waterrockman" (a short film). The former, much as you may not want to hear about it, addresses the tremendous growth in popularity of sushi and whether the planet can continue to support our appetite for seafood. A free reception preceding the screenings starts at 6 p.m. with music, vegetarian sushi-inspired snacks and drinks. Following the films, which screen at 7 p.m., stick around to hear a discussion with filmmaker Mark Hall, Chef Peter Dale of The National and fisheries biologist Dr. Duncan Elkins.
Then, on Wednesday, Apr. 4, Slow Food Athens is hosting a "Dinner and a Movie" night, with The National doing a special three-course prix-fixe menu at 5, 5:30 and 6 p.m., preceding Athens Ciné's showing of Grow! at 7:15 p.m. The dinner is $25, and the film, which documents young farmers in Georgia, is $10. A discussion with the filmmakers and some of the farmers will follow. Call the restaurant for reservations.
