For the past eight years, students in the UGA Music Business Program have helped organize an all-day showcase of local sounds, putting a spotlight on up-and-coming bands while connecting the school’s alumni with its undergrads.
This year, the event, newly dubbed the Classic City Music Festival, moves to Southern Brewing Co. and features an expanded lineup headlined by alt-rock icon Cracker as well as David Barbe & Inward Dream Ebb—groups led by MBUS faculty members David Lowery and Barbe, respectively. Other performers include School U, Hunter Callahan, Xanny P, The Pink Stones, Room 9 and Property of Bolton.
If craft beer and live music aren’t enough to convince you, as a bonus, proceeds from this year’s festival will assist the Music Business Summer Opportunity Scholarship Fund, which helps students seeking internships in other parts of the country afford travel and living expenses. Tickets are $5 for students and kids, and $10 for the general public.
CLASSIC CITY MUSIC FESTIVAL New West Records and the UGA Music Business Program present an all-day lineup of music, featuring Cracker, David Barbe & Inward Dream Ebb, School U, Kaptivated, Hunter Callahan, Property of Bolton, Bahinz and the Band, Xanny P, The Powers, Room 9, The Pink Stones and more. See story on p. 8.
