Some Army: Some Army EP

Distinctive, dreamy guitar

North Carolina's Some Army has had its share of ups and downs over the past year, but these small obstacles have only allowed the band to create an EP that will leave people talking. The self-titled recording consists of seven songsā€”a small enough taste to leave others wondering what this band will do next.

The album is a blend of dreamy guitar and soaring vocals. This combination highlights the folk side of the band, but the music won't be limited to one genre. Other songs pick up the tempo, with strong drum accents and more sections featuring guitar solos, which creates an indie-pop feel.

The band is distinctive enough to not fall into the huge mound of unmemorable indie artists crowding the music scene. Even with only an EP to its name, Some Army's songs cover enough range to make it a genuinely interesting band.

Some Army plays Flicker Theatre & Bar on Wednesday, Sept. 19.
