Election Day, mercifully, is coming up quickly, and if you plan to vote but aren’t registered yet, Tuesday, Oct. 11 is the last day to do so.
It’s very easy. Here’s how: Go to the State of Georgia’s My Voter Page and fill out the form, or fill it out in person at the local Board of Elections office at 155 E. Washington St., next door to City Hall. You can also use the My Voter Page or call the Board of Elections at 706-613-3150 to find out if you’re registered and where to vote.
This is especially important for college students, who are often registered back home—you can only vote in the county where you’re registered. If you’re registered in, say, Gwinnett County, you will have to change your registration to Clarke County by Oct. 11, request an absentee ballot or drive home to vote. You can download an absentee ballot application online and submit it to your county’s voter registration office.
Early voting starts Monday, Oct. 17 at the ACC Board of Elections office and runs through Nov. 4, the Friday before Election Day. It’s open from 8 a.m.–5 p.m on weekdays, as well as 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29. In addition, the board has added a few other early-voting locations this year—City Hall (8 a.m.–5 p.m. weekdays from Oct. 24–Nov. 4), the ACC Library on Baxter Street (10 a.m.–6 p.m. Oct. 31–Nov. 3 and 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Nov. 4) and the Tate Student Center (8 a.m.–5 p.m. Nov. 1 and 2).
