Plans have been filed with Athens-Clarke County to demolish a medical center at 740 Prince Avenue, near the Taylor-Grady House, and build another one.
The plans, filed by Thomas Hawk, call for a two-story, 30,350 square-foot building and another two-story, 47,044 square-foot building with underground parking. (That's the size of three-quarters of a Walmart, since that's how we measure things around here.)
ACC planners are scheduled to review the plans Thursday, Dec. 19. Plans review meetings are open to the public, but no comments are taken, and the development doesn't appear to require a vote.
Similar plans were filed in 2012, with the developer saying he wanted to get them grandfathered in case the commission capped the size of medical offices along the Prince corridor. That hasn't happened yet.
