Athens Power Rankings for the Week of Dec. 2

Welcome to Athens Power Rankings. In the spirit of sports rating systems, through painstaking analysis, we rank the top movers and shakers in the Classic City each week. Who's hot? Who's not? Find out below.

1. Jason Carter (Last week: N/A)

The state senator and likely Democratic nominee for governor has Athenians fired up, even though the election's almost a year away. A big crowd of folks shook off their turkey-induced stupor to hear him speak on Sunday.

2. Todd Gurley (Last week: N/A)

The Dawgs needed a big game on the ground with Aaron Murray sidelined and Mason Hutson Hutson Mason making his first career start, and they got it from Gurley, who put the ball in the end zone twice in overtime to beat Georgia Tech. Check out this amazing leap for one of his three scores.

3. Prince Avenue (Last week: N/A)

It's boomin', we tell ya. Viva Argentine moved into the Bottleworks last week, and the new bar/restaurant Hi-Lo opened in Normaltown.

4. (Tie) Herb Gilmore, Dave Hudgins, Melissa Link and Rachel Watkins (Last week: N/A)

When it rains, it pours. All four of these guys announced last week they're running for Athens-Clarke County Commission.
