Athens Power Rankings for the Week of Feb. 17

Welcome to Athens Power Rankings. In the spirit of sports rating systems, through painstaking analysis, we rank the top movers and shakers in the Classic City each week. Who's hot? Who's not? Find out below.

1. Matt Daniel

Throughout the Icepocalypse, University of Georgia atmospheric sciences student Daniel and his crew at AthensGAWeather.com gave us the most detailed local information about the storm—with the whole city hanging on every word.

2. David Clark

While Daniel kept us up to speed, Clark, the director of the Athens-Clarke County Transportation and Public Works Department, is the guy who dug us out. He and his employees worked around the clock from the start of the storm Tuesday through Friday, until all the main roads were clear. No Snow Jam for us!

3. Patterson Hood

You felt that earthquake Friday night, right? Must have been the Drive-By Truckers rocking out at the 40 Watt.

4. Tony B

The local rapper cleaned up at the Athens Hip Hop Awards Saturday night, taking home trophies for best male artist, mover of the year and video of the year for "She Got Me."

5. Alec Livaditis

He's the new local music director at WUOG 90.5 FM, and already he's set up a Soundcloud site for "Live in the Lobby." Read more in Threats & Promises.
