1. Aaron Murray (Last week: N/A)

After three tries, the UGA quarterback finally beat South Carolina, setting the Bulldogs on course to win the SEC East. It wasn't just a victory for the football program—a successful season means more fans coming into town and more money pumped into the Athens economy.

2. Paul Cramer (Last week: N/A)

What Cramer wants, Cramer gets. In spite of concerns about financial risk and animal abuse at circuses, he won commission approval to float $5.4 million in bonds for additional parking and arena-style events at the Classic Center.

3. Echo (Last Week: N/A)

The much-anticipated vegan restaurant in the old Farm 255 space is open and hosting live music.

4. The Spectacular Now (Last Week: 2)

Rave reviews of the coming-of-age movie directed in Athens by Athens native James Ponsoldt continue to roll in.

5. Pamela Thompson (Last Week: 5)

The Athens Downtown Development Authority continues to get its act together, holding a retreat last week to set goals for improving downtown. What are they? Read City Dope on Wednesday to find out.

Honorable Mention: Kathy Hoard

The Athens-Clarke County commissioner was on the list two weeks ago. She graciously thanked us for the honor at last Tuesday's commission meeting, but we're forced to retroactively bump her down a few notches because she admitted she's never heard of Patterson Hood. WTH?
