CCSD: Keep Your Kids Warm on Thursday

a-christmas-story-530fp121010.jpg

The Clarke County School District will operate more or less as usual Thursday, but administrators are asking parents to take precautions to make sure their children stay warm as temperatures drop into the teens.

Says district spokeswoman Anisa Sullivan Jimenez:

The Clarke County School District will operate on a regular schedule Thurs., Feb. 19. Afterschool programs will operate as usual, and extracurricular activities will be determined on a school-by-school basis. We have tested our heating systems, and look forward to welcoming everyone to warm school environments tomorrow. There will be no outside activities tomorrow.

Our bus drivers will help ensure students are able to get on buses quickly to minimize time spent outside. If at all possible, we ask parents to drive their child to their bus stop and wait with their child. Likewise, at afternoon drop-off, we ask parents to pick up their child at the bus stop. We ask all to dress warmly and in layers. Should parents decide it's best for their child to stay at home tomorrow due to the cold temperatures, the absence will be excused upon request.

The predicted overnight low is 13 degrees, and the high is 30. Stay bundled, my friends.
