Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens Never Meant That Nonsense About Obstructing Obamacare

State Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens said last year that he's doing "everything in our power to be an obstructionist" of "Obamacare."

Now, with the Affordable Care Act nearly fully implemented and benefiting millions of voters, Hudgens is backing off, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“I spoke to a Republican group in Rome, Ga., and I said I was going to be an obstructionist, but I can’t be. I mean, I was talking to a Republican group and I was throwing them some red meat. …

“I’m not a fan of it. I don’t think it’s going to work. But there’s nothing I can do about it. “

Well, that's not what Hudgens was saying in the weeks following his Rome remarks. He defended his comments at an Athens GOP meeting the next month, saying the program will "destroy the free enterprise system" and is the first step toward socialized, single-payer medicine.

"I think Obamacare, if it's fully implemented, the American you and I know and love will be destroyed," Hudgens said. "Why would I help implement that?"
