The Athens-Clarke County Commission holds its agenda-setting (non-voting) meeting at 7 p.m. today at City Hall.
Agenda items include a plan to extend the North Oconee River Greenway (see tomorrow’s City Dope for more), reforms to the local taxi ordinance and a change in the sign ordinance allowing businesses to post an additional sign, for a total of two (aimed mainly at restaurants that wish to display menus).
In addition, the commission will consider parking restrictions on Georgia Avenue and Tamarack Drive; posting a radar speed sign on Lumpkin Street near the Princeton Mills subdivision; stormwater projects on Greencrest Drive, East Creek Bend Road, Midway Road, Pinecone Place and Hawthorne Avenue; and a planning commission recommendation to allow an Aldi on Barnett Shoals Road at the College Station Road intersection.
The Downtown Master Plan Implementation Committee meets at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Three Two committee meetings are scheduled for Thursday at City Hall.
At 4 p.m. in Room 103, the Audit Committee will meet for the first time with newly appointed auditor Stephanie Maddox, a former ACC Finance Department official hired to replace interim auditor Steve Martin.
The Legislative Review Committee will continue taxi talks at 5:30 p.m. in Room 103.
The Government Operations Committee will continue discussions on easing food truck regulations at 5:30 p.m. in Room 301 on July 6.
