There Is Hope for the Health Sciences Bus

Last week, I told you that a new contract between Athens Transit and Campus Transit would prohibit UGA buses from stopping between the main campus and Health Sciences Campus in Normaltown. Well, maybe not.

Athens-Clarke County officials requested the change because Athens Transit has been losing riders on its Prince Avenue routes to the free and more frequent Health Sciences bus.

Well, after Flagpole wrote about it, people complained, and after people complained, commissioners had second thoughts. The power of the, uh, pixel.

A vote on the contract is scheduled for Tuesday, May 6. Mayor Nancy Denson said at a candidate forum Monday night that commissioners will propose keeping off-campus stops on the Health Sciences route until a comprehensive transit study is done later this year.
