We live in Oconee County and lost our dog for 22 days. We put signs everywhere, but no one spotted our Weimaraner, Sammie.
Oconee County resident Jarrett Eidell spotted her under the Georgia Power dam while fishing. He called his wife to get the phone number off one of our signs and texted us that he saw our dog. We high-tailed over to the dam as fast as we could but did not understand that she was in the pillars that held up the dam. So, he and his sweet son, Matthew, jumped in the river and led me and my husband to where Sammie was. The water was very rough near the overflow, as it had just rained, and the current was dangerous. He told his son and myself to stay back, and he and my husband found her, 22 pounds thinner and very scared, but otherwise OK. We all swam to safety on the bank and took her immediately to the vet for examination.
That is a short version of what happened, but I wanted you to know about his heroism, and how he risked his life to save our dog. He never hesitated.
