I am writing today to remind Athens-Clarke citizens that early voting to renew SPLOST is currently ongoing, and also to provide more information on the proposed Eastside library branch on the project list.
The Athens-Clarke County Library would like use SPLOST funds to build an Eastside library branch on county owned land (exact location to be determined with citizen input). This library would serve as a community hub for the Eastside, and provide amenities such as an early voting location, meeting/study rooms, a small computer lab and an opening day collection of 30,000 books.
We want this branch library to be accessible to all citizens, open 57 hours a week (the main branch is open 70 by comparison) and to compliment local services and activities already available in the area. We also think this branch would be an excellent anchor point for potential future economic development for the Eastside.
If you support this project, please vote ‘Yes’ for SPLOST on 5 November!
