Complimentary tickets to the Athens Symphony's two-day Christmas Concert series will be available for pickup at the Classic Center box office on Monday, Nov. 25 at 10 a.m., the Classic Center announced today. The concerts will take place Saturday, Dec. 7 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 8 at 3 p.m.
An annual highlight of Athens' holiday season, the concerts feature some of the Classic City's most talented classical musicians playing the music of Handel, Sheldon, Tchaikovsky and other masters.
In addition to the symphony, the program will feature the Athens Symphony Chorus, as well as author Terry Kay narrating his Christmas book To Whom the Angel Spoke.
Now led by conductor Susan Dinwiddie, the symphony has been an Athens staple since 1979, when it debuted under the direction of conductor Albert Ligotti.
Though the Christmas concerts are free, tickets are required for entry and are limited to four per family.
