Today, AthFest Educates announced the recipients of its fall 2013 mini-grants. As we reported last month, the local nonprofit had encouraged schools and other organizaitons to apply for the grants, which range from $250-$1,000 and are meant to help fund music and arts education efforts in Athens.

The fall 2013 recipients are listed below. Exact dollar amounts weren't made available, but AthFest Educates says it awarded over $15,000 total.

From the press release:

Grantees included applicants from Chase Street Elementary; Hilsman Middle School; H.B. Stroud Elementary; Whitehead Road Elementary; Burney-Harris-Lyons Middle School; Oglethorpe Elementary; Winterville Elementary; Clarke County School District; Babies Can’t Wait; Clarke Central High School; Coile Middle School; Gaines School Elementary; and Cedar Shoals High School.

Janine Sheedy, AthFest Educates Education Chair, said she is “thrilled to see money raised by AthFest and the AthHalf go to so many outstanding music and arts initiatives in our community. This is exactly what AthFest Educates strives to do: to support creative and innovative arts efforts in Athens. These mini-grants will help initiate or enhance projects that may not otherwise have been funded--or have been under-funded--and give access to experiences and opportunities young people in our community
might not otherwise have had.”
